Letter: Move forward with bridge ASAP

I really enjoyed the response, “State tolling cleared way for feds to follow suit,” to the Feb. 11 “What’s Up With That?” question.

I knew that toll roads have been part of many state and federal road projects for decades, but I had been unaware of the precise history.

What I would like to know is what percentage of federal road projects required tolls to make the projects feasible and what percentage of those required voter approval. I do not think that this information would make people who oppose tolling change their mind, but for those of us who are tired of the delays, it would support our goal to have the bridge replaced with its current proposed design as soon as possible.
