SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle police have arrested 10 demonstrators for criminal trespassing after they refused to leave the lobby outside the mayor’s office.

Police say the building’s property manager and officers gave the demonstrators verbal warnings to leave City Hall after it closed for the day at 6 p.m. Monday.

Several dozen demonstrators first assembled in the City Council chambers and later moved upstairs to the office of Mayor Mike McGinn, who was not in. The Seattle Times reports (http://bit.ly/yiuYbb ) that demonstrators said they were part of the Occupy Seattle movement and called for Seattle Police Chief John Diaz to resign.

Police say six men and four women were expected to be booked into King County Jail.
