FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Safety Patrick Chung and linebacker Brandon Spikes are active for the New England Patriots for the first time in eight games.

Chung had been sidelined with a foot injury and Spikes with a knee injury. The return of the two starters Sunday boosts the struggling defense. Guard Logan Mankins is inactive because of a knee injury.

Also inactive against the Bills are running backs Kevin Faulk and Shane Vereen, tackle Sebastian Vollmer, linebacker Tracy White, defensive lineman Ron Brace and quarterback Ryan Mallett.

Starting offensive linemen Demetrius Bell (knee/ankle) and Kraig Urbik (right knee) are inactive for Buffalo.

The other inactive Bills are defensive back Josh Nesbitt, defensive lineman Jarron Gilbert, wide receiver Kamar Aiken, tight end Fendi Onobun and quarterback-wide receiver Brad Smith.
