K-State QB Klein keeps getting up and scoring

IRVING, Texas (AP) — Kansas State’s Collin Klein has had an extended break to recover from all the bumps and bruises.

The hard-nosed running quarterback says he’s feeling good going into Friday night’s Cotton Bowl for Kansas State against seventh-ranked Arkansas in a matchup of 10-2 teams. The game comes five weeks after the 11th-ranked Wildcats played their regular season finale.

Klein has more rushing attempts than passing attempts (293 to 251). His 26 rushing touchdowns are one short of matching the Big 12 record held by 1998 Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams and the FBS record for quarterbacks set by Navy’s Ricky Dobbs two years ago.

Receiver Chris Harper says as remarkable as the stats are, Klein is still standing and healthy after taking a pounding all season.
