Letter: One gesture brightens holiday

A few days before Christmas, my son, his girlfriend, and I were going shopping at a local grocery store. An attractive blond woman approached us and asked if we were holiday meal shopping and we said “yes.” She handed my son’s girlfriend a card and said “Merry Christmas from a stranger.” It turned out to be a $50 gift card.

Her gesture was so much appreciated. My son has been out of work and was worrying how they were going to feed their combined family. I had given them some change I was saving and they were going to use that to buy a few things. Thanks to that sweet lady, they were able to get everything they needed.

With all the negative things happening in the world today, I wanted to write about this wonderful experience. She made our day as well as our holiday so much brighter.
