The Mount St. Helens Institute has announced a long list of seminars, guided climbs and other programs slated for 2012.

Included in this year’s list are more than a dozen field classes covering a wide variety of topics. The first is a two-day seminar June 30 and July 1 — including an overnight camp-out — focused on native peoples of the Mount St. Helens area. The field seminars will wrap up in October, with two single-day programs on foraging for mushrooms on Oct. 14 and 20.

With the exception of hikes into the mountain’s crater, field seminars are open to all ages. Children younger than 14, however, must be accompanied by an adult.

Among the Mount St. Helens Institute’s other offerings are guided climbs and snowshoe trips. A full list of programs, plus registration information, is available at Mount St. Helens Institute.
