Suspicious package shuts down Seattle light rail
Thursday, January 5, 2012
SEATTLE (AP) -- A suspicious package outside a south Seattle bank branch has interfered with Sound Transit light rail service between downtown and Sea-Tac Airport while police investigate.
KOMO Radio reports a couple using an ATM machine called police Friday morning after noticing a box with bottles and wires inside at a Chase branch near S. Othello and Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
Police blocked the street and light rail line as a precaution.
Sound Transit spokesman Bruce Gray says it's trying to arrange bus service between stations on each side of the blocked section.
