ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — D’pendable led all the way to beat Thinking of Girls by 1 1/2 lengths in the $59,400 Decarchy Purse at Santa Anita on Friday.
Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, D’pendable ran six furlongs in 1:08.72 and paid $11, $6.80 and $4.20.
Thinking of Girls returned $27.20 and $8.60 at 41-1 odds, while 9-10 favorite Runflatout was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $2.40 to show.
Trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert, D’pendable was sidelined for eight months before returning last March at Santa Anita. Then he was sidelined again.
The victory, worth $34,800, increased D’pendable’s career earnings to $66,120.
