BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) — Jason Dawson scored eight of his 14 points in the final 34.2 seconds of regulation to send the game to overtime, and then Gardner-Webb got going on both sides of the ball for a 65-61 win over High Point Saturday night.

Gardner-Webb (8-9, 3-2 Big South Conference) trailed 55-48 with 1:05 to play in regulation, but got a big lift from Dawson in the final minute. His 3-pointer with 34.2 seconds remaining cut High Point’s lead to 55-51.

Dawson knocked down another 3-pointer with 24 seconds left to make the score 56-54. He then forced a turnover and was fouled with 19 seconds left, hitting both free throws to send it to overtime.

In OT, the Runnin’ Bulldogs grabbed a five-point lead when Dawson hit Kevin Hartley for a layup with 1:24 left. They held the Panthers (6-9, 2-3) without a field goal for the final 3:44 of overtime.
