WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Dave Dudzinski scored 15 of his 23 points in the first half as Holy Cross withstood a Lehigh rally to win 84-78 Saturday in the Patriot League opener for both teams.

Dudzinski, who had eight rebounds, got help from guards Devin Brown and Jordan Stevens, who scored 20 and 17 points, respectively. Justin Burrell and R.J. Evans each totaled eight points and seven assists, and Evans grabbed eight rebounds.

Holy Cross (7-8, 1-0) needed all that to offset Lehigh’s C.J. McCollum, who scored 27 points and took eight rebounds. Down 47-33 at intermission, Lehigh (12-5, 0-1) halved that deficit to draw within 73-66, but Stevens stuck a 3-pointer for the Crusaders. Holy Cross went scoreless for two minutes and Lehigh cut it to 76-71 on McCollum’s layup and trey.

But in the last 33 seconds, Holy Cross was a perfect 8 for 8 from the line, Brown hitting 6 of 6.
