KEARNS, Utah (AP) — Lana Gehring skated to an easy victory Sunday in the ladies’ 1,000-meter race to lock up the overall title at the U.S. Short Track National Championships.

It is the first national title for the 21-year-old Gehring.

Simon Cho won the men’s 1,000 — his third win this weekend — to claim the men’s overall title despite a back injury.

Gehring won the 500, 1,500, 1,000 and a time trial this weekend at the Utah Olympic Oval.

Katherine Reutter took second in the 1,000 Sunday, but can’t make up the ground with one race to go to claim a fifth consecutive national title.

The six-member teams that will represent the U.S. at the World Cup competitions and the World Championship in Shanghai will be announced Sunday afternoon.
