Fairchild Nat’l Guard unit heading to Afghanistan

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Fifty members of an Air National Guard unit based at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane are preparing to deploy to Afghanistan.

The civil engineering unit will build and repair buildings and improve electrical, water and sewer facilities.

KREM reports (http://is.gd/WY7ZHo ) the airmen spent Saturday in briefings.

First stop is Fort Bliss, Texas, for combat training. Then they’ll be deployed through the summer in Afghanistan.
