Boys basketball: Hudson’s Bay 57, Kelso 42

Hudson’s Bay 57, at Kelso 42 — TJ Brumfield scored 15 of his game-high 23 points in the fourth quarter as the Eagles pulled away for their first Class 3A Greater St. Helens League victory of the season.

Brumfield also grabbed 18 rebounds, and Ane Sipaia had 13 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and eight steals for the Eagles (2-11, 1-4 3A GSHL).

Bay led 15-8 after the first quarter before the Hilanders cut it to 25-23 at halftime. It was 40-36 going into the final period, when the Eagles took over.

“We got out a really good start, then they kind of made a run in the second quarter into halftime,” Hudson’s Bay coach Andy Meyer said. “It was a good game. We came out in the second half and got some steals and forced some turnovers right away to get momentum for the second half.

“It came down to a good team win. The team was working well together tonight and finally put all the pieces together.”

Kelso fell to 3-10, 1-4.
