LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Art Kaufman has been hired as the defensive coordinator at Texas Tech more than a decade after holding the same job under Red Raiders coach Tommy Tuberville at Mississippi.
Kaufman will be the third defensive coordinator in three seasons for Tuberville at Texas Tech. James Willis and Chad Glasgow lasted just one year each.
A 28-year coaching veteran, Kaufman spent last year as the interim defensive coordinator at North Carolina after a staff shake-up sparked by the firing of coach Butch Davis just before the season.
Kaufman has other coaching stops at Southern Miss, Middle Tennessee State, East Carolina, Arkansas Tech and Louisiana Tech. He spent 10 years over two stints at Ole Miss. He was defensive coordinator from 1995 to 2000.
