Graham, Burgess lead VCU over George Mason 65-45

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Trevor Graham scored 16 points and Bradford Burgess had a double-double to help Virginia Commonwealth defeat James Madison 65-45 on Thursday night.

The Rams (12-5, 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association) continued their strong defensive play in snapping a two-game losing streak. VCU held the Dukes (8-8, 1-4) to just 33.3 percent (17 of 51) from the field, while forcing 14 turnovers. Coming in, the Rams were forcing opponents into turnovers on 26.3 percent of their possessions, fourth best in the country.

VCU outrebounded James Madison 44-30, behind 12 rebounds by Bradford Burgess and 11 by Javonte Reddic. The Rams outscored James Madison 15-5 on second chances. Darius Theus added 12 points for VCU and Burgess finished with 10.

Tied at 37 with 15:08 to play, VCU outscored the Dukes 22-6 over the next 12:14.

A.J. Davis was the lone James Madison player in double figures with 13 points.
