PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Gov. John Kitzhaber is preparing to give a "state of the state" address in a speech at the Portland City Club on Friday.
Kitzhaber's office says the governor will lay out his priorities for an upcoming legislative session. He is likely to focus on advancing his proposals to significantly overhaul Oregon's health care and education systems. The Legislature approved frameworks for those ideas last year but still has to weigh in on details worked out over the past six months.
Lawmakers return to Salem Feb. 1 for a one-month legislative session.
