Animal Kingdom wins at Eclipse Awards

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) -- Kentucky Derby champion Animal Kingdom earned 3-year-old male honors at the Eclipse Awards, honoring the top horses and humans of 2011 in racing.
The colt edged Caleb's Posse by just three votes, 114-111, on Monday night. Animal Kingdom finished second in the Preakness and wound up sixth in the Belmont Stakes after a terrible trip. His season was cut short by injury in mid-June.
Caleb's Posse won half of his 10 starts, including the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile and the Kings Bishop, in which he edged Uncle Mo.
