KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) — A bathtub manufacturer is closing its plant in Klamath Falls.

The Herald and News reports Wednesday that 51 jobs will be lost when Aqua Glass closes the plant in March.

Kathleen Vokes, spokeswoman for Masco Corp., the Michigan company that owns Aqua Glass, says tough economic conditions for manufacturing over the past three to five years led to the decision to close the plant.

Aqua Glass makes bathtubs and shower accessories. The plant opened in Klamath Falls in 1994. The Klamath Falls Chamber of Commerce listed plant employment at 210 just four years ago.

Trey Senn, executive director of the Klamath County Economic Development Association, says the plant closing comes as a surprise, but reflects the sluggish market for new homes.
