Germany’s Arndt wins 4-man bobsled World Cup event

ST. MORITZ, Switzerland (AP) — Maximilian Arndt of Germany completed a bobsled World Cup victory double Sunday, winning a four-man event a day after taking the two-man competition.

Arndt piloted Germany 1 to a combined two-run time of 2 minutes, 10.51 seconds, with world champion Manuel Machata’s Germany 2 bob trailing by 0.21 in second.

Edgars Maskalans in Latvia 1 was 0.24 behind Arndt in third.

Steven Holcomb in United States 1 tied for fourth with overall World Cup leader Alexsandr Zubkov of Russia. They trailed Arndt by 0.31.

Zubkov leads the standings by 42 points over Arndt, who got 225 points for victory. Defending champion Machata is third and Holcomb stands fourth.

The World Cup circuit moves to Canada next month for the final two races.
