Ore. wolfhound invited to prestigious dog show

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) -- A 3-year-old Irish wolfhound from Prineville in central Oregon has gotten an invitation to the Westminster Kennel Club's 136th annual dog competition in New York.

KTVZ reports that "Paddy" has accumulated enough show points to rank fifth in the nation in his breed competition.

Paddy's owner, Dean Laney, says he'll be driving cross-country with Paddy to the show. In Laney's words, "this is kind of a way for us to get away from the house," see different parts of the country and have fun.

Paddy will compete on Feb. 13 at Madison Square Garden.
