HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) — Sherrod Wright scored 15 points, including the game-winning three-point play, and George Mason held off Hofstra 55-50 Wednesday night to stay atop the Colonial Athletic Association standings.

The Patriots (17-5, 9-1) have won five straight games and 10 of their last 11.

With the Pride (7-15, 1-9) leading 50-48, Wright’s three-point play pushed George Mason ahead 51-50 with 1:46 left. Corey Edwards added two free throws with 30 seconds remaining, then Wright made two foul shots to seal it with 19 seconds to go.

Hofstra, which has lost eight of its last nine, led 9-0 as George Mason failed to score for the first 5:15.

The Pride still led 20-19 at halftime, with the Patriots shooting a season-low 17.4 percent (4 of 23).

George Mason led by eight in the second half before the Pride tied it at 36 and stayed close from there.
