State Rep. Jim Moeller, D-Vancouver, has been named Legislator of the Year by Consierge Care Advisors, which seeks to improve senior care and housing referral services.
Moeller was chosen because he sponsored a first-in-the-nation state law to regulate placement and referral agencies that work with elderly and vulnerable clients. Before Moeller successfully sponsored legislation in 2011, these agencies were entirely unregulated, with no background checks or training required, despite handling the sensitive personal and financial information of vulnerable adults.
Moeller, a health care professional (he is a mental health counselor for Kaiser Permanente), is a member of the Legislature’s Health and Wellness Committee.
