ATLANTA (AP) — Falcons coach Mike Smith has put the final touches on his staff by hiring defensive backs coach Joe Danna from the Dolphins and promoting Glenn Thomas to quarterbacks coach.

Danna replaces Bob Bratkowski, who was named Jacksonville’s offensive coordinator after former Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey became the Jaguars’ head coach.

Danna worked under new Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Nolan in Miami the past two years as assistant defensive backs coach. Danna was a defensive assistant on the Falcons staff from 2008-09.

Also on Tuesday, Smith promoted Andrew Weidinger to offensive assistant.
