Linsey Corbin of US wins Ironman Austria triathlon

KLAGENFURT, Austria (AP) — American Linsey Corbin won the Ironman Austria women’s triathlon Sunday, while Faris Al-Sultan won the men’s event.

Competing in her first Ironman event in Europe, Corbin, from Missoula, Mont., took the lead in the cycling stage before holding off a challenge by Erika Csomor of Hungary in the marathon.

Corbin finished in 9 hours, 9 minutes, 58 seconds for her second career victory, two years after winning the Ironman Coeur d’Alene in Idaho. Michaela Rudolf of Austria was third.

Al-Sultan took the lead early in the marathon and the German stayed in front for the rest of the race for his fifth career title.

Al-Sultan finished in 8:11:31. Daniel Fontana of Italy was second and Pedro Gomes of Portugal third.
