PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed veteran offensive tackle Max Starks to a 1-year deal on Tuesday. Terms were not disclosed.
The 30-year-old Starks has started 79 games over eight seasons, all with the Steelers. He was cut before the 2011 season due to salary cap reasons but returned to the club in October and started 11 games at left tackle.
Starks gives the Steelers needed depth along the line. Pittsburgh drafted former Ohio State star Mike Adams in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft, but it’s unclear when he’ll be ready to play with the first string.
Starks tore the ACL in his left knee in the loss to the Broncos in the Wild Card round in January, but said on his Twitter page Tuesday that he’s nearly “game ready.”
