SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has apologized following his arrest last weekend on charges of driving under the influence in Northern California.

Lynch’s apology was released by the team on Friday morning. Lynch apologized to his family, the Seahawks, the NFL and Seattle’s fans for the negative attention from his recent actions. Lynch says this is not the type of community leader he’s been the last two years or what he wants to become. Lynch says he will work to be better and is looking forward to the upcoming season.

Lynch was charged Wednesday with two counts by the Alameda County, Calif., district attorney: driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol and driving while having a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher. He has an Aug. 14 court date.
