Schwartz: Players need to make good decisions

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz says cutting defensive back Aaron Berry this week was a tough call from a football standpoint.

But he says from a team standpoint, it was an easy decision.

The Lions terminated Berry’s contract Monday, two days after his second arrest of the offseason. It was the most recent of several run-ins with law enforcement for the team.

Schwartz says two bad errors in judgment didn’t bode well for what a player might do during a big game.

The Lions start practice Friday.
