SEDONA, Ariz. (AP) — A twin-engine plane that crashed on takeoff from a northern Arizona airport was registered to a two-time Olympic distance runner from Albuquerque, N.M.
The aircraft was registered to Pat Porter, who competed in the 10,000 meter run at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games.
Authorities said Thursday a man and two children were killed when the plane went down near Sedona. Their names haven’t been released.
The bodies were removed from the charred wreckage Thursday afternoon and the Yavapai County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the victims’ identities.
TV footage of the crash site showed little remaining of the small plane, which had just refueled.
