WEYMOUTH, England (AP) -- France's Emmanuel Dyen and Stephane Christidis have darted across the finish line ahead of Denmark's Allan Norregaard and Peter Lang to win by one second in the 49er class' first race in the Olympic sailing regatta.
Canada's Gordon Cook and Hunter Lowden were third Monday on Weymouth Bay.
Favorites Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen of Australia were over the line early and had to restart, putting them dead last. They rallied to finish eighth. Outteridge is skipper of Team Korea in the America's Cup World Series.
Americans Erik Storck and Trevor Moore were sixth in the 20-boat fleet.
The 49er skiffs are the fastest and most colorful boats in the Olympics. While sailing downwind, they're identifiable by their national flag gennaker sails.
