LONDON (AP) — Michael Jung of Germany, riding Sam, won the individual Olympic equestrian eventing gold medal.

Sara Algotsson Ostholt of Sweden, aboard Wega, won the silver Tuesday while Sandra Auffarth of Germany, riding Opgun, won the bronze.

The individual medals were decided after a second jumping round following the team show jumping phase. Germany won the team gold. Britain, with the queen’s granddaughter Zara Phillips, captured the silver and New Zealand took the bronze.

Eventing combines dressage, cross-country and show jumping.
