PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — The Associated Press Television-Radio Association has announced the winners of the 2012 Mark Twain awards for broadcasters in 13 western states.
The awards were presented Saturday at the Pasadena Convention Center.
APTRA president Robby Messer told the gathering that the winners used “all resources possible to bring the big stories to their listeners and viewers.”
Retired KPIX, San Francisco, political reporter Hank Plante was the winner of the 2012 Stan Chambers Award for Extraordinary Achievement.
KLAS-TV, Las Vegas, anchor Gary Waddell was inducted in the APTRA Hall of Fame.
KTVU-TV, Oakland; KGW-TV, Portland; KITV-TV, Honolulu; KFI radio, Los Angeles and KGO radio, San Francisco won awards for best newscast.
For the first time this year, radio and television stations in Oregon were included in the awards.
