City seeks new tenant for the Slocum House

The city of Vancouver is looking for a new tenant for the Slocum House, the historic building at the southwest corner of Esther Short Park.

For years, the building housed the Slocum House Theatre, but a potential increase in rent and financial troubles led the company to announce that it would close its doors in February.

The city has issued a Request for Proposals to solicit a new tenant for the building, which is listed on the national historic register. Copies of the Request for Proposal can be found at Proposals are due by June 27.

The two-story, approximately 6,100-square-foot building is adjacent to Vancouver City Hall, the Hilton Vancouver Washington and the weekend Vancouver Farmers Market.

The city hopes to attract a business to offer food and beverages, entertainment, retail, business or a mix of uses.
