SEATTLE (AP) — A Seattle police lieutenant who was arrested at his home Saturday night in a domestic violence case pleaded not guilty Monday to a misdemeanor assault charge.

Seattle Municipal Court Judge Willie J. Gregory set bail at $7,500 for Lt. Donnie Lowe and ordered him to stay away from his wife.

Lowe’s attorney, John Henry Brown, said Lowe’s wife did not want the no-contact order and does not want him prosecuted.

Lowe has been relieved of his badge and gun while the case goes forward. He also has been removed from a leadership role in the Seattle Police Department’s 20-20 reform program. That’s the plan that was launched after the Justice Department’s report on excessive force and civil rights violations by the Seattle police department.
