COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Alberto Contador has extended his contract with a Danish cycling team for three years after the Spanish rider was stripped of his 2010 Tour de France title for failing a doping test.

Team manager Bjarne Riis says Contador will return to Saxo Bank in August when his two-year suspension ends.

Last week, the Court of Arbitration for Sport gave the 2010 yellow jersey to Luxembourg rider Andy Schleck. Contador, who also won the Tour in 2007 and ’09, lost the 2010 title in February when sports’ highest court rejected his story that contaminated meat caused the failed drug test.

CAS backdated the ban, allowing Contador to return to competition Aug. 6

He will miss this year’s Tour, which starts June 30, and the London Olympics.
