NEW YORK (AP) — Washington Nationals pitcher Josh Wilkie has been suspended for 50 games for a second violation for a drug of abuse under baseball’s minor league drug program.
A 27-year-old right-hander, Wilkie is 0-2 with a 4.76 ERA in 18 relief appearances this year at Triple-A Syracuse of the International League. He was signed as a free agent from George Washington University in June 2006.
The suspension, announced Thursday, was the 47th this year under the minor league drug program.
