CINCINNATI (AP) — Bengals cornerback Leon Hall is ahead of schedule in his comeback from a torn Achilles tendon and is hoping to be fully recovered by the start of training camp next month.

Hall will be limited to working on the side during the Bengals’ three-day minicamp that opened on Tuesday. He said he’s running forward and backward without a problem. Hall tore his left Achilles tendon on Nov. 13, leaving questions about whether he’d be ready for the start of the 2012 season.

Coach Marvin Lewis said on Tuesday that Hall has “exceeded expectations by far” in his recovery.

Receiver Jordan Shipley also reported that he’s in the final phase of recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, suffered during the second game last season.
