La Center — The city of La Center Wastewater Treatment Plant is one of a record 108 facilities statewide that have received the 2011 Outstanding Wastewater Treatment Plant Award, the Washington State Department of Ecology announced earlier this month. The state’s wastewater treatment plants were evaluated for compliance with effluent limits, monitoring and reporting requirements, spill prevention planning, pretreatment and overall operational demands of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit. Other plants in Clark County that achieved full compliance are the City of Ridgefield Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Clark County/Salmon Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, the City of Vancouver Marine Park Treatment Facility and the City of Vancouver Westside Treatment Facility.
