NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey defenseman Mark Fayne, a key cog in the Devils’ run to the Stanley Cup finals, had surgery to repair a ligament in his wrist last week, and will be out up to four months.

Fayne, who had the injury on his left wrist, had three assists and was a plus-5 in the postseason, as the Devils defeated the Panthers, Flyers and Rangers, before bowing out in the final round against the Kings. He had 30 shots on goal and 31 hits. In the regular season, he had four goals and 17 points. On Monday, Fayne was also tendered a qualifying offer by New Jersey.

Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello also tendered qualifying offers to defensemen Matt Corrente and forward Vladimir Zharkov.
