ZURICH (AP) — FIFA has appointed former Interpol director Ralf Mutschke as its head of security.

FIFA says the 52-year-old German will take over the duties of outgoing director Chris Eaton on June 1.

FIFA says Mutschke currently works for the German Federal Criminal Police Office, and worked with team security officers at the 2006 World Cup and 2011 Women’s World Cup in Germany.

Mutschke will be responsible for leading FIFA’s global fight against match-fixing and securing international competitions, including the World Cup.

Eaton is leaving FIFA to join a Qatar-based sports security consultancy.
