GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) — Bronson Arroyo isn’t being tested for a fungal infection. Johnny Cueto and Homer Bailey are throwing just fine.

Heading into the start of exhibition games, the Cincinnati Reds’ rotation is far ahead of last spring.

Arroyo has recovered from his spring illness of last year, which was finally diagnosed as mononucleosis. Cueto is scheduled to start on opening day, showing no sign of the shoulder problem that sidelined him last spring.

And Bailey is in contention for a spot at the back end of the rotation, having put on 20 pounds for strength.

Manager Dusty Baker said on Thursday that Mike Leake will pitch the exhibition opener on Saturday against Cleveland, with Bailey throwing on Sunday. The top of the rotation includes Cueto, Mat Latos and Arroyo.
