HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) — Derrick Gordon had 25 points and 15 rebounds Sunday night, and seventh-seeded Western Kentucky beat No. 2 seed UALR 58-53 in the Sun Belt Conference tournament quarterfinals.
The Hilltoppers (13-18) trailed by 13 with less than 9 minutes remaining, and by 11 when they scored 17 points in a row, taking their first lead of the game with 3:14 to play.
George Fant added 13 points and Kahlil McDonald scored 11 for Western Kentucky, which will play No. 3 seed Denver in Monday’s semifinals. The Hilltoppers have won four in a row, including Saturday’s first-round victory over FIU.
D’Andre Williams scored 19 points to lead the Trojans (15-16). Chuck Guy added 13 points and Courtney Jackson scored 11 for UALR.
