Heritage senior named Marshall youth leader

Zachary Hall, a senior at Heritage High School, is the 2012 recipient of the General George C. Marshall Youth Leadership Award presented by the 40 et 8, Voiture 99.

The award was announced Friday by the Fort Vancouver National Trust and the Marshall Youth Leadership Award selection committee.

Hall will be recognized at a ceremony at 4 p.m. March 21 at the Marshall House on Officers Row. He will receive a $2,500 college scholarship, a $500 Fort Vancouver National Trust summer internship and opportunities to attend and participate in Celebrate Freedom events.

Chelinda Dettorre, a counselor at Heritage, nominated Hall.

The other finalists were Ruth Ferguson, Battle Ground High and Clark College; Christopher Gaylor, Mountain View High; Trenton Holmberg, Union High and Clark College; Ariana Hoyer, Columbia River High; Mckinzee Pachl, Ridgefield High; Ibette Valle, Fort Vancouver High; and Katherine Vance, Ridgefield High.

The committee received 28 nominations from 12 Clark County high schools.
