GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina-Greensboro made interim men’s basketball coach Wes Miller its permanent coach.

The school announced Miller’s promotion Tuesday, two days after the Spartans lost in the semifinals of the Southern Conference tournament.

The 29-year-old Miller — the youngest head coach in Division I — took over for Mike Dement in December and guided UNC Greensboro to a 13-19 finish, an 11-11 conference record and the school’s first SoCon North Division title.

He says the program’s foundation is in place, and he wants “to take UNCG to the next level as a basketball program.”

Miller played three seasons at North Carolina and was part of the 2005 national championship team after transferring from James Madison.
