KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — NATO says a U.S. service member has been detained for allegedly shooting Afghan civilians.

NATO forces spokesman Capt. Justin Brockhoff says there was a shooting incident Sunday in which multiple Afghan civilians were wounded. No one was killed.

He says the shooting was not inside a NATO or U.S. base but did not provide further details on how or why it happened. He says it is not clear if the alleged shooter knew the victims.

Brockhoff says the wounded Afghans are receiving care at NATO medical facilities. He says U.S. forces are investigating the shooting in cooperation with Afghan authorities.
