SOFIA, Bulgaria (AP) — Bulgaria’s Olympic Committee has suspended two swimmers and a basketball player for taking a banned substance.

The committee’s disciplinary commission said in a statement Friday that Andrey Iliev, 19, who plays for the Chernomorets Burgas basketball team, has been banned for two years. Swimmers Iliya Vasilev, 20, and Dinko Geshev, 24, were suspended for one year and three months, respectively.

Geshev was expected to compete in the breaststroke at the London Olympics. The ban means that he cannot race in the remaining qualification races.

The commission did not identify the banned substance, but local media reported that the three had tested positive for marijuana.
