JOHANNESBURG (AP) — Double amputee Oscar Pistorius has again run inside the 400-meter qualifying time for the London Olympics.

Pistorius was timed in 45.20 seconds on his carbon fiber blades at a meet in South Africa on Saturday. He said he was “absolutely thrilled” and called it a “magical moment.”

This is the second time he beat the mark of 45.30 set by track and field’s ruling organization for able-bodied athletes. Pistorius ran 45.07 in Italy last year.

This run doesn’t strictly qualify Pistorius for London, but it is a major boost. South Africa’s Olympic committee wants its athletes to meet the qualifying criteria in the three months leading to the games. And this could be considered good enough by the committee.
