NEW YORK (AP) — Newbie, the even money favorite, led all the way Wednesday, beating Hot Splash by 5 1/4 lengths in the $57,000 allowance feature for New York bred 3-year-old fillies at Aqueduct.

Junior Alvarado was aboard for trainer John Kimmel as Newbie got her second win in six starts. The time was 1:38 for the one mile on the fast track.

Newbie paid $4.20, $2.80 and $2.50. Hot Splash returned $4.10 and $4 while Sally’s Dream paid $6.80 to show.

Earlier on the card, Bobs Pinup Girl captured the first grass race of the season as the unseasonably mild weather led to a resumption of turf racing several weeks ahead of schedule.
