HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — The judge in former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky’s child sex-abuse case is ruling against a prosecution effort to rein in defense subpoenas.
Judge John Cleland issued an order Thursday that denied a prosecution motion filed a week ago that argued Sandusky’s lawyers had improperly issued subpoenas.
Cleland’s decision came a few hours after defense lawyer Joe Amendola told the judge he was looking for information that could help counter claims that Sandusky caused psychological problems among the alleged victims, among other things.
The judge’s order didn’t mention motions filed by two school districts and Juniata College seeking to have Sandusky defense subpoenas.
Cleland’s scheduled a hearing for next week on defense subpoenas and the disclosure of materials to Sandusky prior to trial, now a month away.
