SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) — Miguel Tejada has been invited to work out for the Baltimore Orioles at their extended spring training camp in Florida.

Tejada will go to Sarasota, Fla., and take a physical for the team in addition to his workout. Orioles spokeswoman Monica Barlow says the sides have not agreed to a contract.

The veteran infielder, however, is expecting more than a tryout. He tells The Associated Press in a telephone interview Friday that he will go to Sarasota on Monday and after a few days he will report to the major league team.

The 37-year-old Tejada played 91 games last season with the San Francisco Giants before being released in August. He hit .239 with four homers and 26 RBIs.

Tejada was the 2002 AL MVP with the Oakland Athletics.
