Rio served search warrant over Olympic golf course

SAO PAULO (AP) — The city of Rio de Janeiro has been served with a search warrant to disclose the contracts it allegedly signed with the owner of a disputed land where the Olympic golf course is to be built.

The city, however, said Friday it still hasn’t signed any contracts for the course.

Rio this year announced it had an agreement to build the course on the land, but local organizers later said the deal was not complete.

The search warrant came after a judge ruled that a company claiming ownership of the property has the right to see the contracts signed by the city and its partners who will build the course.
